Plan B Pill

First of all, I don't usually like to get into such topics. I prefer to keep things lighthearted around here, but this just burns me up. I have to get it off my chest.

The Plan B Pill will now be available without a prescription in the US. Now, this is not the RU-486 abortion pill that terminates a pregnancy. They say this pill will prevent a pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after intercourse. It will be available over the counter, but you have to be 18 to purchase it. Right, So it's safe to say any kid can easily get this pill. The 15 year old says to the 18 year old, "Gee, Sally, if I give you the money will you go and buy for me..."

Bravo folks! let's give our kids one more reason to have sex like rabbits! Very unwise.

Like I said, I try to stay way from talking about these issues. I don't like debates.

Here's an article. Decide for yourself.

Psst I thought you said you weren't going to touch on anything political.

I find myself very much at odds with myself (lovely sentence structure, eh?) over this topic.

I want safe, effective BC to be easily accessible to prevent pregnancy, I just don't think Plan B is the way to go.

I'm afraid this is just another reason for anyone, kids or not, to have unprotected sex with no worries of the consequences. STDs are already easily transmitted and some of them are DEADLY while unwanted pregnancies are being terminated with no regard to human life. When are we going to be able to instill in our youth that it's not cool to have sex, ESPECIALLY unprotected sex, and that they should respect their bodies and not have to give into peer pressure?

I agree with heather - safe, effective BC should be easily accessible. But I don't think Plan B can be considered birth control at all.
