The Stupid Cat

I really don't like this cat. She bites. She doesn't let me pet her. She bites. She's got a terrible attitude. She bites. And did I mention SHE BITES!

If anyone has the free time to tame a wild feline, feel free to give me a call. you can have her!!

OK, I have to admit, I do admire her spunk. Here's a gal who knows how to get what she wants and she doesn't care who she has to hurt to get it, not to mention the fact that she doesn't give a rip if anyone likes her or not. Miriam's mean, but at least she knows who she is. I'm not going soft here...if you want her - you can have her!

Anytime she bites you, just bop her on the nose. My cat still does it a little bit, but not nearly as much as she used to. If that doesn't work, then keep a squirt bottle nearby and give her a nice shower!

She is a cutie though.

I'll have to try that. I'm willing to try anything at this point!

First, yes... a squirt bottle works best. Don't bop her on the nose. For cats, they bop back. A smack on the nose is good for a dog, but for cats, it's almost like you want to fight back. A bop may or may not work for her, depending on how aggressive she is. A quirt bottle works, and even blowing in her face. A quick puff of air with no sound will startle her a bit; this works if she is in your face... or we do this if our girls decide they want to stick their nose in our drink or something...

Second, I have vowed to never get another cat unless they are about 3 months old and I can observe their personality. Mareth came to us at about 3 months. She was lovey and sweet, and has remained so. Tilly we got at 10 days old and have had all kinds of issues with her. So, the next cat we get, I plan to be choosey.

Lastly, you might want to get her a friend... Yes, a second cat. I know that may sound like a lot, but honestly she prob. needs a sibling to wrestle with and channel her aggression on. Tilly was like that at first. When she was like 4 months old we decided to get her a sister 'cause Tills was constantly attacking us. She just wanted to play but it was nuts. A sister was a really good idea. If you do get another cat, get an older kitten... 3 to 8 months.. make sure they are de-flea-ed and spayed before they come home. So fleas don't spread to the first cat, and the spaying will keep them from "spraying" urine to mark territory...

Just some thoughts. Hope this helps.

One more thing, when you squirt her, say "NO!". So you squirt her and say it at the same time. You don't have to say it too loudly, just a good firm "NO!". For us, it took a few months for the cats to get it. But, once they did... now all we have to say is NO! We started with Tilly when she was itty bitty.. and she really knows NO... Mareth still looks at us like, "What? Are you sure? But, I'm so cute.. Well, ok.. if you insist..." Then she moves..

Good luck. You can do it. Just be consistent. Let me know if I can help...
